Skip, who is an investment banker in California, first started making beer with The Beer Machine in the spring of 1999. Skip is so impressed with the beer he makes with The Beer Machine that he "can't drink that store bought stuff anymore. I'm at the point where if I go to a bar I'll say 'give me a cocktail' because I've become that fussy about drinking my own beer".

Skip has brewed a number of The Beer Mix's and has liked all of them but he say's for his taste there are a few frontrunners. He describes the Porter as "nirvana - as good as beer that I've had at Oktoberfest in Germany." He recently made a batch of Canadian Red Lager for Christmas that he reports had a "really thick creamy rolling head and carbonation so fine it was just great" !
